Tasha-Yar

Tasha-Yar is a band from the hills of North Carolina with a sound that bridges the past with the future, the soil with the sky and the outer world with an inner vision.

The origins of Tasha-Yar date back to 2002 when Tim Greene and John Presnell helped form US Christmas in Marion NC, later adding Chad Davis and Ben Teeter. The band had the opportunity to play with some of the top touring acts in the nation and play some of the best festivals nationally as well as internationally. Following the tour in 2009 Ben, Chad, Tim and John left.

Before long they were again making music together, preserving the chemistry they’d established over years of touring and recording. The new sound developed organically over countless hours of improvisation. Tom Devlin III, frequent soundman and one-time sax player for the previous band, soon came into the fold and the band considered adding vocals to the mix. Joe Sample was asked to sit in with the band, his contributions becoming another part of the whole, and the band was complete.

Tasha-Yar debuted live in April 2010, recording their first gig for their first release. Along with some improvised pieces, this recording would become “First Landing”.

They continued to play throughout the southeast while recording their first full length studio album at the home of member Chad Davis.

Tasha-Yar are currently in the process of finishing “Casting Lots,” a collection of spontaneous music, while playing shows and working on new music.
